We are so glad that you are interested in participating with us in our Child Dedication Service. You have been entrusted with the precious gift of new life, and we look forward to partnering with you as you embark on this parenting journey. We hope the Child Dedication Service will be a memorable occasion for you and your family. Before we get to the BIG EVENT, we invite you to complete the following steps to prepare for Child Dedication.

Complete the registration form and return it to the office or contact Michelle Suarez at michelle@fbcwagoner.com to sign up.

This is an important step in the process because we want to inspire you to invest in the things that will matter the most to your child’s future. You'll receive a link to the audio file with more info about the child dedication process after we receive your registration forms.

We want this to be a special time for your family and an introduction to our church family. Submit the digital pictures to michelle@fbcwagoner.com or text them to 979-665-7553.

That’s right! The last step in the process is to attend our Child Dedication Service on November 4. We are planning a meaningful and memorable celebration for you and your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is child dedication?
Child dedication is a public commitment you make before God, your church, and your fami-ly. The dedication service provides you an opportunity to express publicly your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in cooperation with the Holy Spirit, so your child will develop a desire to love God and love others.

What is the difference between baby baptism and child dedication?
We believe Baptism is for those who have made a personal decision to trust Christ alone for their salvation, once they have the maturity and ability to understand what that means. Rather than baptizing infants or children, we encourage Christian parents to ded-icate their children. This is a ceremony in which parents formally call upon God’s blessing for their child and publicly commit to raise him or her in accordance with Scripture.

At what age can a child take part in a Child Dedication Service?
The average age for a child to be dedicated is between birth and 4 years old.

Can single parents participate in a Child Dedication Service?
Yes! Child dedication signifies the commitment of parents (including single parents) to do their best to raise their child to be a follower of Christ.
Do I have to be a member of First Baptist Church to participate?
You do not need to be a member of First Baptist Church to have your child dedicated. How-ever, we do encourage parents to make sure they are calling First Baptist their home church. Why? In dedicating your child to God, you are stating that you are willing to partner with God and the church to raise your child in cooperation with God’s intentions. To partner with any church, a parent would be wise to decide if he or she agrees with its beliefs and vision, so they can be all-in in their partnership with the church.
Who should I invite to attend the Child Dedication Service?
Your family and friends are an important part of your support system.  So we encourage you to invite your family and friends to join you.  You’ll receive more detailed information to pass on to them as you complete the registration process.
